What were the benefits?

E. Coli result negative

E. coli was an issue facing the farmer. Tree tests had been undertaken prior to the HydroBoost unit being installed with all results being positive. This was very disappointing. While the brief for the HydroBoost unit was to reduce the Iron content going to the Dairy shed and help clean the water troughs, E. coli would have been a bonus. A water test was captured 8 weeks after the HydroBoost unit was installed with the test result being negative. While this is a one-off result, and additional tests will be undertaken, the farmer was very pleased.

Iron reduced – water is clear

The Iron levels have reduced to the point where the farmer acknowledges it’s ‘pretty clear’. This means less rusting up on the Hot Water Cylinders and constant flushing of the system when Iron build-up occurs. It is one less worry for the daily routine. 

Water Troughs cleaner

The water troughs were cleaner. After cleaning around half the water troughs, they have been slower to come back, that is they were staying cleaner longer. This also means one less weekly task to undertake and potentially healthier water for the cows.
